Secretary of State Visit

In April 2018, we had a visit from the Secretary of State for Education, Damien Hinds, and the Minister of Children and Families, Nadhim Zahawi.

We welcomed the opportunity to promote the importance of early years and the work we are doing to improve children’s early language skills.

Action Research

Rothesay Nursery researched why some boys did not choose writing as an activity.  We looked at how we could encourage boys to become confident writers. We ran small groups to support the boys who were reluctant writers and looked at the impact of these groups had on individual children and boys as a whole.

We also researched how we could support our children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and how to support their play. We adopted the intervention Identiplay and provided regular sessions for our children and then analysed the impact of these sessions on their play. This report asked “what is the impact of teaching play to young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder?”
